Chad Stiening talks about being a Scientist- Entrepreneur

The Career Development Committee of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology proudly presents its second seminar of the year. PhD, in our last event, we now explore another territory with Chad Stiening – a highly successful Scientist-Entrepreneur and CEO of Kypha.
Chad Stiening, PhD graduated from UIUC in 1999 with a double major in Biology and Finance, and obtained his PhD in animal science (molecular genetics) from U of Arizona in 2005, followed by a postdoc in Biomedical Engineering in U of Arizona. In 2010, he founded Kypha, a St Louis-based clinical diagnostic company and assumed the role of its CEO. Kypha is developing tests for a broad range of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Chad’s role as CEO oversees long-term strategic planning, clinical studies, technical development, external business collaborations and fundraising. He is also the Founder and Managing Partner of Common Place Holdings, a seed-stage healthcare investment fund.Chad is a visionary leader with a passion for entrepreneurship and technology commercialization, and a strong track record for attracting resources, advisors, and a talented team. He’s been named the 2013 Governor’s Entrepreneur of the Year for the State of Missouri.
